History
The Church
of Christ at Claypool Hill held its first worship service on April 12, 1981 at
the VFW building at Claypool Hill.
Charlie Morris brought the first message entitled "The Wonderful
Church Jesus Built" to the 33 people in attendance. Construction on the
original building at Claypool Hill began on September 6, 1982, with 89 men
present from area churches to assist.
Dedication of the building was held April 17, 1983, with ordination of
elders Randy Childress, Charlie Morris and Gary Null, held May 1, 1983.
Richly
blessed by the Lord, the church flourished, and members found a need to enlarge
the facilities to better serve the growing congregation. A groundbreaking and dedication service for a
new sanctuary and Sunday School rooms was held on October 17, 1999. "Building week" was March 13-18,
2000, with the new addition started and put under roof that week. Work by volunteers, with only a small amount
of contract labor, produced the extra classrooms, spacious vestibule, and
beautiful sanctuary in which we serve.
As our
church family grows, we continue to add additional services and resources to
meet the needs of our various age groups, including our Restart teen service, and Jive youth
programs.
