Question: What if I don't know anything about the Internet?
Answer: Then you're in the right place! TheLordsWay.com is designed for congregations who do not have the resources within their membership to create and maintain a web site. Leave all of the technical stuff to us. You simply fill-in the online forms which we provide and your site is created automatically for you! It is that easy.
-
Question: What will my Internet name be?
Answer: You will be asked what you would like your Internet name to be. Chose a name that is easy for people to remember. For example if your congregation's name is the Springfield church of Christ in Tennessee you may want to chose springfieldtn as your name. In this example, your web address would be www.thelordsway.com/springfieldtn.
-
Question: Can we have our own domain name (www.ourname.com)?
Answer: Yes. After your site is online you can upgrade your account to use your own unique domain name that will "point" to your TheLordsWay.com site. This way you can take advantage of the easy to use tools we provide to keep your site up-to-date and still have your own Internet address. There is an extra charge of $50 per year for your having your own domain name. As an example the two links below show how your site will work with a unique domain name:
Basic Link -
http://www.thelordsway.com/mainstreetcoc
Unique domain name -
http://www.thelordswaysample.com
Notice how both of these links "point" to the same web site!

Question: What are the advantages of TheLordsWay.com over having someone custom build a site?
Answer: There are are many advantages! You can instantly change your web site yourself. As an example lets suppose a custom web company has 150 clients (TheLordsWay.com
currently serves more congregations than this) and each of them wanted to make a weekly update to their site to share news, post to the prayer list, make a directory update and put an event on the calendar. These updates would take about 15 minutes to
complete. With a custom developed site you would have to call or e-mail all of this information to the web designer. With 150 sites to update at 15 minutes each that is almost 40 hours of work! Your site may not be updated for a week!
Plus you had to spend the 15 minutes sending the information in the first
place. With TheLordsWay.com you would update your site yourself and it would done before a custom web designer
could get started!

Question: What are some of the ways a web site may help our congregation?
Answer: By posting information about your services, programs and events you open the door to the thousands of people who use the Internet in, or that may be visiting, your area. Pages containing the gospel plan, a discussion board (with questions and answers) and contact information will generate opportunities to spread the gospel further into your local community. Place your web address on your letterhead, your visitors cards and your marquee to attract visitors to your site. A web site also keeps your members informed and organized. News, an online directory and calendar will let everyone know what is happening.
-
Question: Who controls what is put on our web site?
Answer: You do! You simply fill in the online forms we provide and your site is created from what you enter. See 'How can I update our web site after it is on the Internet?' for more information on updating your site.
-
Question: How much space do I get?
Answer: TheLordsWay.com uses a content management system to store your data. This means your data is stored in a database and not in actual files. Using the content management system your site can contain unlimited data. You are able to upload 25 pictures for your pictures page (this is in addition to a picture for each staff member, member directory entry and one on your home page), 25 PDF documents and you will have 100 megabytes of space for MP3 (audio) files. All of these limits can be raised, if needed, by upgrading your account.
-
Question: How can I update our web site after it is on the Internet?
Answer: You will be provided with an administration password which will allow you to update all of your pages. Powerful, yet simple, tools will walk you through updating your pages. It is recommended that your administration password be given to only a few select members of your congregation.
-
Question: Our congregation already has a web site but it is difficult to keep up-to-date. Can we use TheLordsWay.com?
Answer: Yes! We hear this often. We will assist you in forwarding your existing web address to your new site on TheLordsWay.com. Then you will have the power and flexibility to change your site's content easily but still be able to use your existing web address.
-
Question: Our congregation does not have a computer. Can we still create a site?
Answer: Absolutely! A site on TheLordsWay.com can be created and updated from any computer connected to the Internet. Your home computer, work computer or even a computer in your local library. With TheLordsWay.com you are in control.
-
Question: What software do I need to install on my computer?
Answer: None. The site is created and updated using online forms so there is nothing to install for a basic site. You can take advantage of software applications that create advanced web features (video, audio, flash, etc) with your TheLordsWay.com web site but this is NOT required.
-
Question: How much does it cost to get started and how do I pay?
Answer: The service is billed yearly at $100. There is a $50 one-time setup fee so your total getting started cost is $150. We accept checks written from the congregation or its members. We also accept credit cards. Payment instructions are provided in the Sign up section.
-
Question: The price seems to low. What are the hidden costs?
Answer: There are no hidden costs! We hear this questions a lot! The service is offered at a low cost since you maintain your own site using simple forms. Also, we view this work as a way to help spread the gospel and that is our primary mission.
-
