| Comments: | Hello, my name is Dennis Hicks. I live in Canyon, Texas, and am a member of the Church of Christ. Please join me in praying for the people who have the power and authority to decide what is on television. Pray that they are godly people and lovers of truth and that they will be protected, as they run those companies in a more godly way than others do presently. Let’s work on it through prayer. We should not underestimate the influence of these people. I think there are probably less than a hundred people who have this power, with some groups influencing them. Changing the channel or turning off the TV is ignoring the problem. We shouldn’t ignore technology like television. Why should the ungodly have so much power and influence? We can change that if we all pray together; our faith, God’s power. It isn’t just about shows and movies that might depict reality. I’m talking about the way some specific sins are being promoted on TV. I’m sure a love of money is one of the reasons for making ungodly decisions. However long it takes us, however many generations, we should be working on this. God will give us whatever we ask for if it is in accordance with his will. Many young people who don’t have a godly influence in their life are being influenced by these people. My whole life I have heard Christians talk about the United States becoming more evil. No Christian should say “I don’t know what we can do about it”. We should say ”Let’s ask God what we can do”. If all the people who love God ask for anything that is God’s will, I know we will receive it. The words of Jesus himself “ I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” The people Paul wrote to, didn’t just improve their own lives, they pleased God and changed the world. Each Christian has a gift or focus given to them by God, so all Christians might not understand what I am writing about. All parts are important. If someone in your congregation would help me by praying for this, it will make a difference. We are the light of the world. Our calling is to be a light to the world, not just to survive. If we want to influence the world for the good we have to think bigger. Although we can’t force people to have faith or to love God we still need to influence the world to do what’s right. Scripture says “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”. This is what we all want for our nation. The United States needs millions of faithful and wise Christians working on these kinds of issues. I ask Christians to join me in prayer continually. Pray that godly people will have the power to decide what will be on TV. And pray they will have a wall of protection around them to do this. Please share this letter, if possible, with members.
