John 14:1-3 (NASB) "Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also."
There are times in all of our lives when we are troubled. A loved one falls sick and we are helpless. A child is missing, and our heart sinks. We get laid off and wonder who will hire a person with specific or even limited skills and background.
As we read the gospels, we might notice something Jesus focused on when addressing his chosen disciples: He kept telling them to stop worrying.
When Jesus walked out onto the sea during a storm to meet them in a boat they were terrified. The first thing He told them was not to be afraid. We read this in Matthew 14:26-27When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out in fear.27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid." Our first tendency, when we don't feel that we have control, is to be anxious. Jesus tells us, like his chosen twelve, that there is no fear when we know to whom we belong. Again, He said to the disciples in John 14:27: PeaceI leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
