Services
When you visit the church of Christ in Santa Cruz, we will not view you as a stranger; you are honored as a guest and a friend. According to Scripture, we are all connected by one blood and creation (Acts 17:26). Through Christ Jesus, our friendship and family move from temporary to eternal (John 3:16). The "welcome mat" is laid for everyone who comes.
Our worship is as fundamentally unique as Christ Jesus. Our service centers around Who it is we are worshiping, Whose name we praise, and for Whom we are named. There is always acapella singing that allows us to teach and remember critical principles of Christianity (Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:19-20). Prayers are made on behalf of our world, each other, the lost, and crucial needs (1 Timothy 2:1-5). Communion is offered every week, to keep us in remembrance of what God did for the world at Calvary (1 Corinthians 11:17-34). A collection is taken up each week, an opportunity for each Christian to cheerfully give (2 Corinthians 9:7) as he/she is prospered by the Lord (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). You can depend on hearing a biblically inspired lesson that is meant to motivate, rebuke, teach and correct every listener of the word (2 Timothy 4:2).
Finally, we always offer an invitation to whoever desires, to be baptized for the remission of sin (Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16). During this period in our worship, anyone may also come forth and request prayer for whatever needs they may have.
You are welcome to join us at any time.
"And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;"
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."
"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;" Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;" "For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"
"Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse." "For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it." "For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you." "When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper." "For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken." "What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not." "For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:" "And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me." "After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me." "For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come." "Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord." "But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup." "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body." "For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep." "For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged." "But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world." "Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another." "And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come."
"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
"Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye." "Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."
"Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
