An example of God’s hand in the water comes from the first story in the Bible.

And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (Gen. 1:2,  ASV)

This shows us that one of the very first things God created of consequence on this planet was water and everything we consider to be living on this planet must have it in some form to survive, a point which may be moot to a lot of people, but not to me. But is there anything that would tie the water and blood together in God’s overall plan?

Let’s look at 1 John 5:8...

For there are three who bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one. (1John 5:8,  ASV)

The Spirit the water and the blood? It says they all agree in one. To my mind that means they are all involved in the same thing according to Gods plan.

What poured out of the side of our Lord when the Roman soldier thrust his spear into it?

Howbeit one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and straightway there came out blood and water. (John 19:34,  ASV)

How does that tie to the water coming from the rock in the time of Moses? Isn't Christ the "Rock" of ages? Does He not offer us the "water of life?"

What was the first plague set upon Egypt in the time of Moses by the hand of God?

And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe even these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land. (Exo. 4:9,  ASV)

God turned the water into blood

God used water to save the Israelites from the Pharos army at the Red Sea.

And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and Jehovah caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all the night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. (Exo. 14:21,  ASV)

And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and Jehovah overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. (Exo. 14:27,  ASV)

And don’t forget that Moses was saved from the Pharaoh’s decree as an infant by being floated upon the water thus his “blood” was not shed.

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong; (1Cor 1:25-27, ASV)

“The weakness of God is stronger than men.” An interesting statement isn’t it? Perhaps, the old adages “weak as water” and as strong or “thick as blood” may apply here. In any event, we know that most of the denominations say our belief in the truth of God’s Word as teaching baptism’s necessity to be “foolishness.” Alas they are given a “strong delusion.”

I did not even mention Noah in all of this, but I hope these examples help you. For me it is very easy to see God’s wisdom in the use of water throughout the Scriptures, and its connection to the “blood” of Jesus is also very obvious.
