God's Track to Heaven

God’s Track To Heaven

A

mong the many things that Jesus taught while on earth was the truth that the road to heaven is a narrow way. His exact words were: “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:14). This is so plain, but millions refuse to accept it. In their desire to promote the doctrines and commandments of men, they have made every effort to widen God’s way. However, in the eyes of God, they have completely failed.

Jesus further reinforced the narrow way to life when He said, “Not everyone who says to Me, `Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven” (Matthew 7:21). Where does this leave the doctrines and commandments of men? Very simply, this leaves them out! The apostle John echoed this teaching of Jesus when he wrote: “Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son” (2 John 1:9).

Why is it so important to follow the narrow way? To illustrate, compare God’s way to a railroad track. The railroad track is constructed by spiking two parallel iron rails to many wooden cross ties. In addition to making the track level and solid, there is ONE other essential rule. The rails must be made the right width apart to match the axles and wheels on the train. The track cannot be too wide or too narrow. What happens when the track is either too wide or too narrow? You know! The train will leave the track, and wreck.

As simple as this may seem, this is exactly what happens to those who try to make the way to heaven either wider or narrower. There will definitely be a spiritual wreck!

Thus, the way of the gospel, representing the good news of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is narrow. In fact, when Jesus announced that He was the Way, He said further, “No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). That is narrow!

Paul declared to the Romans that the Gospel is “the power of God to salvation,” (Romans 1:16).  Then to the Galatian churches he wrote, “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:8). Is this track too narrow? God’s word says that IT IS NOT too narrow! However, those who promote false doctrines say that IT IS too narrow.

Remember, only God’s narrow track leads to heaven! What track are you following? Is it he wide one leading to destruction, or the narrow one leading to life?  Yes, the wide track or way may seem comfortable and right, but it isn’t!

Remember the words of Solomon: “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). —BBBristow
