How Strong is your Faith?
by Ruben Williams
When the subject of faith is considered, the entire spectrum must be examined. What is faith? Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Therefore “faith” is not a leap in the dark, faith is a matter of considering the evidence (facts) and arriving at the proper conclusion. When you look at a house, you may not know the builder; you may not even have seen it built. But the evidence shows that there must have been a builder. God gives all men the reward of salvation, to all who desire salvation. Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Regarding salvation, "faith" is the foundation of it. A man must first have faith in God before he can be saved; and faith comes by hearing the word of God. Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Well, what does the word of God say regarding salvation? The bible says that all men must obey Christ in order to obtain salvation. Heb 5:8-9 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. “Faith” accompanied with obedience is essential for salvation. Rom 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name. Yes, we are saved by faith, but are we saved by faith alone? James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. Even the devil himself believes in God but will the devil dwell in heaven with God? The bible clearly teaches that baptism is a part of salvation. But the question is; can a man be saved before baptism? The bible says that baptism is for (in order to obtain) salvation. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. A man is saved after baptism. Baptism is a matt
