"He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for
his name's sake" (Psalms 23:3)
The 23 Psalms is often called the "Nightingale" song. The words are sweet and soothing, like the melodious sound of the bird. It brings comfort when we read and reflect on the words.
The simple definition of restore is: To repair someone or something to an earlier or original condition by repairing it, cleaning it, etc.
God is in the restoration business! When we see nothing but darkness, feel nothing but pain and sorrow, God sees beauty. "For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7).
We all need restoration. It's only when we stop resisting and completely yield to God that we can be made new. "Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay; you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand" (Isaiah 64:8).
There are four steps for spiritual restoration:
Humility: "Humble yourselves before
the Lord, and he will lift you up" (James
4:10).
Repentance:
"Therefore, repent and be converted in order that your sins may be blotted out,
so that the times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19).
Prayer:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7). All who call upon the name of the
Lord will be refreshed, renewed and salvaged
Communion/Fellowship:"Finally, brothers, rejoice.
Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in
peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you." (2 Corinthians 13:11)
Restoration can be painful, allow God to work in you and through you. "In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation" (1 Peter 5:10).
RESTORE MY SOUL
Restore my spirit, Lord
I need restored
My heart is weary
Please help me, dear Lord
I stand in need of more
Strength from your Word
Renew my love
Rebuild my faith
Oh, restore my soul
Revive the fire, Lord
Deep in my soul
Stir my desire
To work in your fold
Light in my heart, dear Lord
Your zeal grown cold
Renew my love
Rebuild my faith
Oh, restore my soul
Renew my courage, Lord
It needs restored
My cup is empty
Refill it, dear Lord
Replace all doubts and fears
With faith so bold
Renew my love
Rebuild by faith
Oh, restore my soul
