Ed McMurtry passed from this life on Sunday, July 26, 2009. He was a longtime faithful member at Creekview who will be dearly missed. Below is his obituary.
Edward McMurtry, Jr. age 84 of Gallatin passed away Sunday July 26, 2009. Funeral service will be Wednesday July 29th at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Stacey Durham officiating. Burial will follow in the Gallatin Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Tuesday July 28th 4:00 -- 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Mr. McMurtry was born in Trousdale County January 11, 1925 son of the late Edward McMurtry, Sr. and Addie Forkum McMurtry. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson Sean D. Sutton. He is survived by his wife Barbara Chambers McMurtry of Gallatin, son George Edward McMurtry and wife Diana of Picayune, MS, daughter Patricia Ann Sutton of Fountain Hills, AZ, brothers; Roger McMurtry and wife Janice and Garrett McMurtry and wife Sylvia French all of Gallatin, three grandchildren, Denise Sims, Tricia Murray and Samantha Belcher, and six great grandchildren; Amanda, Breanna and Hannah Sims and Luke, Rachel and Hannah Sutton. Family Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
