Seeking and Saving the lost.
The missioin of the Seaside Church of Christ is the same as was started in the first Century by Christ and carried on by his body the Church. That mission is to continue, "to seek and to save that which is lost." Luke 19:10. There are three ways in which we reach out to save those who are lost, thus the three fold work of the Chruch as revealed in the scriptures. These three works can be categorized as Benevolence, Edification and Evangelism. We believe that everyone has the right to here to word of God and respond just as those who were saved in Acts 2:36-46. We believe the bible is sufficient in supporting every need of man and that no other book, creed, motto, or man made invention is necessary. From beginning to end the gospel theme points us to cross and the unity obtained in Christ Jesus. That unity is spoken of throughout the scriptures and is made very clear to the Church as Ephesus in Ephesians 4:3-6, "Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bodn of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith , one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all and in you all." The scripture constantly supports that believers not only had all things physically common but that the spiritual teaching, principles, statutes and commands that they were tuaght followed a line of authority from God to Christ to the Apostles down to us his Disciples. In Acts 2:41-44, we see that unity was there in the Church from the start, "Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were don by the apostles. And all the believed were together, and had all things common;." This commonality and unity in doctrine is paramount for the child of God. We believe that Christ is not only Lord and Saviour, but also the ultimate authority who has given to all mankind his word. God's word is not up for debate it has been settled in Heaven, Psamlsm 119:89. That means we have no authority to change it to add to it or subtract from it. Christs' teaching are sufficient for the Hebrew writer let's us know, "God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, who he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;." Hebrews 1:1-2. The mission of the Church can only be carried out properly if we are unified under the teaching of Christ. Our mission is to help the surrounding community to reach that goal.
