If God Is Really A Loving God, Why Is There A Place Called Hell?
By Garland M. Robinson
There is a place called Hell and it is REAL. The Bible speaks so plainly and clearly of hell. It is the place of torment and the eternal punishment of the wicked. "And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night ..." (~Revelation 14:11~).
Jesus tells us that hell is real. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell" (~Matthew 10:28~; 5:22). "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment..." (~Matthew 25:46~). The wicked will be in everlasting damnation (~John 5:29~)...
Hell exists because God's righteousness (~Daniel 9:14~) -- holiness (~Psalm 99:9~) -- cannot exist with evil. Concerning heaven we read, "And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie ..." (Revelation 21:27). God's holiness and justice demands the punishment of the wicked (cf. ~Romans 11:22~). Men send themselves to hell because of their own sins (~Romans 3:23~; ~Romans 6:23~; ~Isaiah 59:1,2~).
It is because of God's great love that He warns us about hell and has provided the means of forgiveness of our sins through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. If God were not a loving God, He would not have warned us about hell and Jesus would not have suffered and died for us.
It is because of God's grace that we can escape hell by believing in Jesus (~John 8:24~; ~Mark 16:16~), repenting of our sins (~Luke 13:3,5~; ~Acts 2:38~), confessingfaith in Christ (~Acts 8:37~), and being baptizedinto water for the forgiveness of sins (~Acts 2:38~; ~1 Peter 3:21~; ~Romans 6:3-7~; ~Romans 6:17,18~). Are you going to escape hell?
