Responsibility of Parents
by Dan C. Bailey
Those who have children have a great responsibility to see to it that their children are properly trained in the way of righteousness. Since it is the case that the soul is worth more than the whole world, the responsibility to bring children up with a knowledge of God is truly weighty. I have seen parents all of my lifetime, who have taken little or no care in helping their children to prepare someday for heaven. The parent or parents who do not take their children to worship and Bible School are simply negligent when it comes to spiritual matters. We live in a sinful, lustful, hurtful and wicked world. I would be willing to say that most of those in prison or jails, come from families where parents failed to teach their children to respect, honor, and love God. Paul tells us, "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4).
The Israelites were commanded under the old covenant, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up" (Deuteronomy 6:4-7). Sometimes parents are just too lazy to get up out of bed and take their children to worship God. They can take them to school, take them to McDonalds, take them to the park, but they never take them to learn of Jesus and His love for them. Their children grow up in a world which fails to put God, His Kingdom, and His righteousness first!
If you have failed in your responsibility to train your children in the ways of God, repent and do it today before it is too late!

Parents Who Care
Mom and Dad did real fine,
They bought nice gifts all the time.
Their children had the best to wear,
Warm coats, new shoes,
From parents who cared.
But the greatest gift was never given,
To teach their children of hell and heaven.
To teach them of a Savior's love
Of God and angels who dwell above.
So don't forget that gifts and toys
Are less important to girls and boys,
Than teaching them the golden rule,
And taking them to Bible School.
