Is The Sabbath Day Still Binding Today?
by Ruben Williams
The Sabbath day is the seventh day of the week, this the day that God did rest from all his creation, this day he also sanctified (Gen 2:3) And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. This means that God set the seventh day of the week apart from all other days because this is the day that he rested from all his work. Some today believe that the Sabbath day is still binding on all human beings. Though this day was a part of the Ten Commandments given by Moses on Mt Sinai (Ex 20:8), it was just that it was a part of the old law. Today we are not under the commandments of the old law. It that were so then we would be sinning if we did not keep the law in it entirety (James 2:10). If we were obligated to keep the old law then we would have to offer animal sacrifices for our sins. This would be useless because Jesus Christ offer himself for our sins (Heb 9:12-14). One verse will suffice in the New Testament which will answer the question of the Sabbath Day being binding upon us today. (
