Since the Bible doesn't say what day Jesus rose, or even tell us to set aside a day to celebrate it, I have always wondered how this tradition got started. The word Easter is only in the Bible once in Acts 12:4 (only in the KJV) and is a mistranslation of the word "passover" and if you read it they certainly weren't celebrating Jesus in the context of that verse. At our house we hunt eggs, give the kids candy and have a nice meal with family but I just wish people wouldn't set aside special days to remember Jesus because when we do that is seems to make us forget Him the rest of the year and feel like we have done our Christian duty when we attend a worship service twice a year (the other being around Christmas). Maybe this is why Paul warned us NOT to do this in Galatians 4:9-10. Let's all make a true commitment to the Lord and start attending worship every Sunday! Just my two cents.
