Have you ever thought about how we may be mistreating God ? You may say to yourself; I don’t mistreat God, I have great love and respect for Him. Let’s take a look at a few things.
[1]Denying God - The words of Joshua in Chapter 24: 19-20 are very powerful
"And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good. "
Do we deny God by putting other things first in our lives? There are so many people that put hunting, fishing, ball games and many other things in front of their service to God. When will we realize that we must place God first in our lives. In verse 23 Joshua says - "
Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel."
Like it or not Christians are different from the world and need to stay that way if heaven is to be our home. Jos 24:15 "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"
