The debate took place at Rosenburg, Tx.
Howell is on the Russellite order - soul sleeping, annihilation, and a chance of obeying the gospel after the resurrection. He was once a Christian, his father is a faithful preacher and is one of the best men I ever knew, and I feel sad to see his son sidetracked and wasting his useful life on such foolishness as Russell teaches.
I have been in the debating field for 16 years, holding from 3-10 debates each year, and have debated along the line of 12 different channels; but I find less comfort and less good in the "millennial-dawn" theory than any other with which I have met. It is hard to for me to understand why some of my brethren become so much concerned about these outside matters.
