On Feb.15-18 Warren Co. Tenn. was the scene of one of the most brilliant defenses of God's truth of the decade - on water baptism and Holy Spirit baptism. It was held in the spacious auditorium of the Morrison church of Christ. 1200 - 1500 present each night.
Bro. Sain repeatedly lay bare the claims of those who deny the teachings of God's word with humble, straightforward expositions of the holy scriptures. He asked Mr. Batts 33 questions. Three were answered incorrectly, three more merely quibbled at and the remaining 27 were left unanswered. Mr. Batts was also silent about four large charts and several smaller ones used by bro. Sain. He never once dealt with the charts.
New Testament Christians have a right to be proud of Harold Sain for the earnest, effective and scholarly manner in which he presented the truths of God, and for the humble, dignified and gentlemanly conduct which was characteristic of his behavior at all times. This servant of God has proven to the skeptical members of the Lord's church in this area that the gospel of Jesus Christ can be defended in a public discussion without compromising one inch of sacred truth - and still be in a spirit of love and kindness.
