W. C. Hall vs Dennington (Baptist)
December 23 - 24, 1914
Mount Olivet, Tennessee
(By Harvey W. Jones)
January 15, 1914
Mr. Dennington affirmed: that a penitent believers have remission of sins, salvation and eternal life before baptism." He said we "believe into Christ" and quoted Wilson's Diaglott as proof. Hall asked him how they got out of Christ after believing into him, as the Bible says we are "baptized into Christ" (Rom. 6; Gal. 3:27) but Dennington never answered. Dennington said that if baptism is for the remission of sins, then we ought to be baptized every time we sin. Hall answered that if baptism is because of remission, then Baptists should be baptized every time they sin and get pardon, as "it's a poor rule that won't work both ways." Bro. Hall made a clear, clean, able defense of the truth.
