E. C. Fuqua vs L. G. Holloway (Mormon)
August 29, 1912
Greeley, Colorado

(By J. H. D. Tomson)

Holloway of Lamoni, Iowa, a substitute for T. A. Russell.

Holloway affirmed: "Resolved that the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is in harmony with the New Testament scriptures in organization, doctrine, and practice." The Mormons were in the lead the first five nights or should have been, but Holloway would not affirm. Hence, Bro. Fuqua had to lead on both propositions. He even had to tell the audience what the Mormons taught and Holloway preferred to deny what Bro. Fuqua had said in stating his proposition for him.

Mr. Holloway does not know the rules of honorable discussion or was too selfish in pursuing his course. His moderator, T. A. Russell, seemed to think his part of the work was to jump up and object to something that Bro. Fuqua was stating that was exposing the folly and wickedness of Mormonism. The debate was a one-sided affair but a success for the truth, and a lesson for the Mormons that they will not soon forget.

Bro. Fuqua is at Boulder this week, debating with T. A. Russell (Mormon) on the same propositions he debated with Holloway at Bellvue except the origin of the two churches is involved. Bro. Fuqua is laboring very hard day and night in the Master's cause in this great western country where there is much to contend with, for the majority of people are interested in money making and pleasure.
