A. G. Freed - (Debate with Pigue)
January 23, 1908
THE PROOF by A. G. Freed
In the debate at Bogota, Tennessee last December, I rehearsed the agreement between R. H. Pigue and me to publish the debate held at Troy, Tennessee, stating that this agreement was publicly made at Hornbeak in December before the discussion at Troy the following summer: that at Troy, Pigue failed to come up to his agreement to put the debate in book form, saying that his money was tied up in a printing outfit. Pigue replied that he "would hold up his hands to heaven and swear that there is not a word of truth in the statement," that the first he ever heard of any debate to be published was when I introduced it at Troy. There are many good people who are anxious to know who told the truth.
I here give the statement of two of the moderators of the Hornbeak debate. The third moderator was not seen. The president moderator is a Baptist. Many more are ready to testify to the same facts.
The statement: "Hornbeak, Tennessee, December 31, 1907. This is to certify that we: John White, and J. R. Williams, acted as moderators in the Freed-Pigue debate at Hornbeak, the said White as President Moderator; and that said Freed challenged said Pigue to debate the six specific propositions at Troy, Tennessee, and that the same be published in book form; and that propositions were signed by both parties with this agreement and understanding.
{Signed] John White, President Moderator: John R. Williams, moderator for A. G. Freed."
This is a sample of the veracity of the man who has been "sent to demolish Campbellism in West Tennessee." Remember too, he claims to have been baptized with the Holy Ghost.
