March 12, 1936
Los Angeles, California
(By James L. Lovell)
G. C. Brewer debated Dr. J. C. Coleman, secretary, Friends of the Soviet Union of Los Angeles, February 28-29 at the Central church, Los Angeles, California.
Subject: Resolved that Communism or Sovietism, as it today reigns in Russia, contemplates world revolution, and, as a means to that end, seeks to destroy the Christian religion." Bro. Brewer affirmed.

Dr. Coleman is a smart man and an excellent debater. He has been in Russia and had much first hand information, but found it impossible to deny the proposition.
The Los Angeles newspapers, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, denominations, and city officials gave wide interest to the discussion, and the Central building was filled to capacity. Practically every minister of the Church of Christ in Southern California attended.
