"The brethren well pleased with Bro. Allmond's manner, method, and material. He grew stronger each day, and 'the sword of the spirit' wrought havoc among Baptist doctrines. Judge Edwards is an able man and fought a losing battle hard. Towards the close he manifested his defeat by using many ugly and unchristian expressions. We believe that the majority of the Baptists realized that their champion went down in utter defeat. Some say they were leaving the Baptist church and are becoming simply Christians. The debate was held in Baptist community and was well attended. Ernest Christian moderated for Bro. Allmond."
