I have just closed a four-day debate with Ben M. Bogard at Mexia, Texas. Bogard is strongest debater Baptist have in Texas. During the debate I baptized a prominent man who was brought up under the influence of Baptists. At close of debate, Bro. C. W. Ing, moderator, preached two sermons and I preached one, then we baptized ten and restored one. Brethren told me that even if I had not made an argument, my conduct in debate won over Bogard. At close of debate, the Superintendent of Baptist Sunday School resigned. He said he was in the wrong place.
