W. Curtis Porter vs W. E. Sherrill (Missionary Baptist)
December 5, 1940
Marked-Tree, Arkansas
(By Joe. H. Blue)
Four days debate. Nov. 26-29 near Marked-Tree, Okla.
Propositions: Establishment of the church, baptism, and apostasy.
The disputants conducted themselves is a manly way and the congregation behaved well. Interest ran high throughout the debate. Bro. Porter was master of the situation in every respect. He defended the truth and exposed error. He is fully prepared to meet any sectarian on earth. The brotherhood need not be afraid to call him to defend the truth at any time. Preachers attending: Leonard Fielder, C. W. Branmon, Thomas L. Conner, Ruehen Porter, Franklin T. Puckett, J. H. Watson, F. S. Spaulding and Jack Hathcoat.

I am glad to be one of those who attended the Potrter-Sherrill debate. I have seen the truth victorious many times, but never have I before seen error so smashed. Yet all remained in good humor.
