Ellis McGaughey vs Mr. Fuchs & F.M. Griffen (Primitive Baptists)
March 30, 1933
Bulo, Oklahoma
(By Everett O'David)
Bulo, Okla. - five night discussion. After 3rd night Mr. Fuchs got sick, yet was present. Substituted F. M. Griffen of Memphis.
This was bro. Mc Gaughey's first debate. But he proved himself worthy, presenting the truth in an unexcelled manner. He was kind, patient, and in love drew the sword of the truth, and the victory was complete. Mr. Fuchs said it was the best debating he had heard from any of our brethren. He certainly did feel the effect, and did not even attempt to meet bro. McGaughey's every text that had a hearing on the subject was thoroughly examined.
When Mr. Griffen had been under fire one night, he came to me and said he was willing to close the debate and let bro. McGaughey the last night. They did not reach any argument. Bro. McGaughey has greater knowledge of the Bible than many of our older preachers. If you need a defender of the truth call him.
