G. C. Brewer
June 14, 1928
(By F. W. Smith)
Through the kindness of Bro. G. C. Brewer I have received his published debate with Judge Ben Lindsey. Bro Brewer was well prepared to meet Judge Lindsey, having fully acquainted himself with the Judge's writings on the subject, which he used with telling effect against his opponent, and showed himself to be "master" of the situation from every angle of the subject, in its collateral relations as well as the fundamental relation founded in the wisdom and purpose of God.
Bro. Brewer possesses a keen, logical and penetrating mind with a splendid command of language and fluency of speech that give to him a power in disputation that few men have. He is not only a splendid preacher of the word, but is amply able to defend the truth against any opponent on any subject.
Judge Lindsey experienced about the worst drubbing that he ever received in his life. He not only came into contact with a man that knows the Bible, but one that knows much more about the subject the Judge has been lecturing on all over the country than he himself knows. I feel sure the Judge is a "wiser" man, if not a "sadder" one, since this debate, and that he would never consent to meet G. C. Brewer again in a like discussion.
